40,000 volunteers kept ready in 5 coastal districts to deal with cyclone

DHAKA, May 26, 2024 (BSS) - As many as 40,000 volunteers from the Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP) and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society have been kept ready to deal with cyclone 'Remal' in five vulnerable coastal districts.

The five districts are Patuakhali, Bagerhat, Bhola, Barguna and Satkhira.

The government has formed over 650 medical teams in six coastal districts- Patuakhali, Bagerhat, Bhola, Barguna, Chattogram and Lakshmipur.

A total of 4,905 shelter centers including Mujib Killas have been kept ready in seven coastal districts where people are being evacuated.
