All forces of August 5 must be united to prevent fascism’s resurgence: Adilur

MUNSHIGANJ, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) – Industries, Housing and Public Works adviser Adilur Rahman Khan underscored the need for maintaining unity among all the forces associated with August 5 mass uprising to prevent resurgence of fascism.    

“All the forces associated with August 5 mass uprising must be united to prevent fascism’s resurgence”, he told a views exchange meeting with the martyrs' families of July uprising, organized by the Munshiganj district administration, at the DC’s conference room at Munshiganj.

The adviser said, “July Shaheed Smrity Foundation is tirelessly working for the welfare of the martyrs and the injured. The most pressing task ahead is to ensure justice for those responsible for the July massacre”. 

“Ministry of Liberation War Affairs will take the responsibility of the families of the July martyrs the way the ministry took responsibility for freedom fighters’ families. Allowances will also be given to all affected families”, he added. 

Chaired by Munshiganj DC Fatema-Tul-Zannat, the discussion was also addressed by members of martyr’ families, Odhikar Director ASM Nasiruddin Elan, ASP Mohammad Kazi Humayun Rashid, local officials, journalists, and students who actively participated in the July uprising.

Family members of the martyrs shared their memories and called for swift trial of all the perpetrators involved in the July massacre. Several injured participants of the uprising recounted their experiences and urged authorities to take concrete actions.  

Later, the adviser handed over the prizes to the champion and runner-up teams of various sports competitions, organized by the district administration and district sports office marking the ‘Youth Festival 2025’ with the theme 'Let's change the country, let's change the world'.
