ALASKA, Aug 15, 2025(BSS/AFP)-US President Donald Trump touched down at a military base in Alaska on Friday for a much-anticipated summit with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to press for an end to Moscow's bloody war in Ukraine.

The US leader was due to hold face-to-face talks with the Kremlin chief, who was on his first foray onto Western soil since ordering the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, triggering a conflict that has killed tens of thousands of people.
