Russian strikes kill at least 1, wound several in Kyiv: city officials

KYIV, Ukraine, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Russian strikes on Kyiv on Thursday killed at least one person and wounded several others, officials in the Ukrainian capital said.

"Unfortunately, we have our first casualty due to the enemy attack. According to initial reports, a man died," Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the city's military administration, said in a Telegram post.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on the same platform that five people had been hospitalised following the attack, and a five-storey building had collapsed.
