Health officials report 12 deaths, 740 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

DHAKA, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 12 dengue patients died and 740 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the last 24 hours till 8am today.

The information was revealed in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

"During the period, (of the 740) 165 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 77 in Chattogram division, 147 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 115 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 122 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 52 in Khulna division, 22 in Mymensingh division, 28 in Rajshahi division, three in Rangpur division and nine in Sylhet division, the press release said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 179 deaths while the disease inflicted 41,831.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
