
DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) entered its third consecutive day of reviewing appeals against the decisions of returning officers for the forthcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election.
Proceedings began at 10 am in the EC auditorium at Agargaon here with the full commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin, scheduled to deliberate until 5 pm. Today's agenda covers appeals numbered 141 through 210.
On the second day of hearings yesterday, the commission approved 58 appeals. In addition, seven applications were rejected, while six were kept pending.
A press release from the Election Commission stated that the appeal filed by Md. Mohiuddin, an independent candidate of Munshiganj-3 constituency, which had been pending on Saturday, was approved on Sunday.
On the first day of hearings, Saturday, 52 appeals were approved. Altogether, over the past two days, more than a hundred candidates have regained their nominations.
Md. Ruhul Amin Mollik, Director (Public Relations) of the EC Secretariat, told BSS that Tuesday, appeals numbered 211 to 280 will be heard, and the process will continue until Jan 18.
EC officials said copies of the rulings from the hearings on Jan 10, 11, and today can be collected today from the reception desk of the Election Commission building.
In addition, results are being displayed on monitors immediately after each hearing, and copies of the rulings are being sent to the concerned parties via email.
A total of 645 appeals have been filed with the Election Commission against the acceptance and rejection of nomination papers in this election.
