DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today acquitted actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alishan Chowdhury in a case filed over allegations of threat and intimidation.

Dhaka Executive Magistrate Md Adnan Zulfiqar passed the order after holding a hearing in the matter this morning, bringing the proceedings of the case to an end, defence counsel Tuhin Hawladar told BSS.

Earlier, on November 16, 2025, the court of Dhaka Executive Magistrate Afroza Tania granted bail to the siblings in the case. The court had issued arrest warrants against them on November 3 as they failed to appear before the court on the scheduled hearing date.

The case was filed on March 24, 2025, by one Amirul Islam, who claimed he had given the duo Taka 27 lakh to become a partner in their proposed business venture. He alleged that despite a long lapse of time, no business was launched, and the money was not returned.

According to the case documents, on March 16, the accused allegedly called Amirul to a restaurant in the Hatirjheel area, where they, along with their associates, abused and threatened him.
