DMP files 2,012 cases for traffic rule violations

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division has filed a total of 2,012 cases against vehicles, owners and drivers for violating traffic rules.

DMP traffic police dumped 463 motor vehicles and towed away 189 vehicles during the campaign conducted on January 11, according to a press release issued today.

Several teams of the DMP Traffic Division have been working to ensure a disciplined and smooth traffic system in the capital, it said.

During the drive, Ramna Division filed 133 cases, Lalbagh Division registered 182 cases, Motijheel Traffic Division filed 281 cases, Wari Division registered 375 cases, Tejgaon Division filed 224 cases, Mirpur Division filed 394 cases, Uttara Division registered 261 cases and Gulshan Division filed 162 cases against motor vehicles as well as three-wheelers and motorcycles, the release added.
