DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Md. Milan Mallick (28), the main accused in the sensational murder of a school student in Dakshin Banasree of the capital.

A joint team of RAB-3 and RAb-6 arrested the suspect from the Sadar Police Station area of Bagerhat district at around 8:30 pm on Sunday.

RAB-3 Commander Lt Col Fayezul Arefin made the disclosure at a press briefing at RAB Media Centre in Kawran Bazar today.

The incident occurred on January 10, when 18-year-old Mosa Fatema Akhter Nili was found dead in her home with her throat slit.

Her father, hotelier Md. Sajib later filed a murder case with Khilgaon Police Station against unknown persons.

RAB investigation, including CCTV footage analysis and intelligence inputs, revealed that Milan Mallik, an employee at the victim's father's hotel, entered the house multiple times on the day of the incident while the victim was alone.

During initial interrogation, the accused confessed that he killed the victim after she refused his repeated immoral advances.

RAB officials said the accused will be handed over to Khilgaon Police Station for further legal proceedings, while investigation continues to determine if there were any other motives or accomplices involved.
