
DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) – The government is implementing an extensive programme across the country to create public awareness about the forthcoming referendum slated for February 12.
Under the initiative, field-level government officials, religious leaders, and leading representatives of various non-government organizations are being trained to help eliminate ambiguity and misinformation about the referendum at the grassroots level, said the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing here today.
As part of the ongoing activities, a divisional officers’ conference and an Imam conference were held separately in Barishal on Sunday.
At those events, Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Prof Ali Riaz and Special Assistant, Monir Haider delivered training-oriented speeches on the referendum.
Similar programmes will be organized in all other divisions across the country in the next few days.
Under the supervision of the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO), Divisional Commissioners’ Offices are organizing training sessions for divisional, district, and upazila-level officials, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations while Islamic Foundation is organizing training programmes for imams and religious leaders.
According to the programme schedule, divisional-level imam conferences and views exchange meetings will be held on January 12 (today) in Rajshahi, January 14 in Rangpur, January 15 in Chattogram, January 17 in Dhaka, January 19 in Mymensingh, January 22 in Sylhet, and January 24 in Khulna.
Divisional, district, and upazila-level officials, vice-chancellors of different universities and other senior academics, senior journalists, presidents and secretaries of press clubs, presidents and secretaries of shop owners’ associations, leaders of other important associations, heads of NGOs or presidents and secretaries of NGO associations, religious leaders, representatives of civil society, and other distinguished individuals will attend these events.
The views exchange meetings at divisional, district and upazila levels and with other stakeholders will play a crucial role in creating awareness about the referendum.
