SYLHET, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to formally launch the party's election campaign for the 13th parliamentary election from Sylhet today.
The first public election rally will be held at Sylhet Government Alia Madrasah ground, where Tarique Rahman is scheduled to address party leaders, activists and supporters at 11:30 am.
All preparations for the rally have been completed. Even before the programme begins, the Alia Madrasah ground and surrounding areas became vibrant with the arrival of leaders and activists from different parts of the division.
Since early morning, the flow of people continued to increase, filling a large portion of the venue well ahead of the scheduled time. Leaders and activists began arriving at the venue, many carrying party flags and banners and taking positions around the ground from last night.
Party leaders said volunteer teams and discipline committees have been deployed across the ground to ensure the rally proceeds smoothly. Separate entry and exit routes have been arranged to avoid congestion, while law enforcement agencies have put in place multi-layered security measures.

BNP's Sunamganj-1 candidate Kamrul Islam, present at the venue, said all stage preparations for Tarique Rahman have been completed and a massive turnout is being witnessed since morning. "I am seeing such a large gathering after a long time," he said.
BNP Organising Secretary GK Gaus said, Tarique Rahman will address the rally at 11:30 am, while party and coalition-nominated candidates from the Sylhet division are also expected to speak at the event.
