DHAKA, March 4, 2026 (BSS) - India's High Commissioner to Dhaka Pranay Verma today said that India is keen to work closely with the new government of Bangladesh.

He said New Delhi is also interested in making bilateral cooperation more extensive and dynamic.

The Indian envoy made the remarks after a courtesy call on Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in Dhaka.

Verma said India aims to advance positive and constructive relations with Bangladesh based on mutual interests and shared benefits.

He added that discussions were held on further strengthening future-oriented engagement while upholding the historic ties between the two countries. The two sides also exchanged views on enhancing people-centric cooperation in various sectors, including development, technology exchange, digital inclusion and strengthening the local government system.

The High Commissioner said India consistently supports a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh and remains committed to continuing dialogue and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
