DHAKA, March 3, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan today said disrespecting people with differing views leads to negative consequences, adding that the nation witnessed an example of this on August 5, 2024.

He made the remarks while addressing an Iftar Mahfil as the chief guest. The event was organized by M Mostafa Zaman, Member Secretary of Dhaka City North unit BNP, at Ranabhola in the Turag area of the capital this evening.

The minister said the people of the country have placed their trust in the current leadership, and it is essential to uphold that confidence. "We have started working to implement the pledges in line with the commitments made by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman," he said.

Swapan noted that the party had endured significant repression in the past but emphasized that it does not believe in repression or torture.

BNP Dhaka City North Member Secretary M Mostafa Zaman attended the programme as the special guest, while Senior Joint Convener of Dhaka City North BNP Mostafizur Rahman Segun presided over the event.
