RANGPUR, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives, Industries and Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan has said that only the defeated forces in the July uprising can stand against ‘Yes’ vote in the referendum.

“Only the forces defeated in the July mass uprising and those who are collaborators of fascism can stand against ‘Yes’ vote in the referendum. Those opponents of the masses, have other thoughts and are seeking a 'No' vote in the referendum,” he said.

He said this to local journalists after laying a wreath at the memorial erected in memory of the martyrs of the July Uprising in the city on Friday.

The adviser said, “The July Uprising liberated the country. We know the sacrifice of those who were martyred in July. We were on the streets with them in July. Thousands of people were injured. This interim government came through a mass uprising.”

That is why this government has taken the initiative to implement the July Charter. That is why the government wants it to be a ‘Yes’ vote in the referendum.

The July Charter has been prepared keeping in mind the spirit of those who gave their lives to bring about the fall of fascism in the country. Therefore, the referendum is in favor of the July Charter.

“Such an opportunity does not come in a hundred years in the life of a nation. At the same time, general elections are being held. We hope that the elections will be fair, peaceful and festive,” he said.
