KAFCO deposits Tk 25.40 crore in Workers Welfare Foundation fund

DHAKA, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) – Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) has deposited Tk 25 crore 40 lakh 72 thousand in the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation fund as part of its commitment to workers’ welfare.

Industries, Commerce and Textiles and Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir handed over the cheque to Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury at the latter’s office at the Ministry of Commerce on Monday, said a press release.

Industries Secretary and KAFCO Chairman Md Abdun Naser Khan, Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation Director General Mohammad Quddus Ali Sarker, KAFCO Chief Corporate Officer Saidur Rahman and other concerned officials were present at the cheque handover ceremony.

Under the Bangladesh Labour Act, local and multinational companies are required to deposit one-tenth of 5 percent of their annual profits into the workers’ welfare fund.

KAFCO has been contributing to the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation fund since the beginning of its operations as part of its commitment to corporate responsibility and workers’ welfare.
