Mobile network to be fully operational on polls day: EC secy

DHAKA, Jan 1, 2024 (BSS) - Election Commission Secretariat Secretary Md Jahangir Alam today said all mobile network and internet connection across the country will be fully operational on the day of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls.

"We have talked to all concerned to the mobile networking systems in the country . . . Mobile network will be fully operational on polls day," he briefed journalists on "Smart Election Management Apps" at the Election Commission Media centre here.

The EC secretary said all the data regarding the elections will be available on the polls day through an app entitled "Smart Election Management BD" which will be available in the 'Play Store' and 'Apple Store'.

"On the day of election, the votes' tally will be published on the smart app within each two hours," the EC secretary added.

Replying to a query, Jahangir Alam said, "The EC has released the apps on these four pillars -- home, information, results and analysis and all citizens will be allowed to use the app after registering with mobile number and Nation Identity card (NID)."

Besides, the overall directives and situation of the vote will be officially informed at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on January 6, the EC secretary added.

Additional Secretary of the EC Secretariat Ashok Kumar Debnath, Joint Secretary Abdul Baten and Director General of EC's National Identity Registration Wing AKM Humayun Kabir were present there.
