DHAKA, Jan 04, 2024 (BSS)- Fatema Tuz Zohara, first woman pilot in police aviation wing. The Aviation Basic Training Course was inaugurated with four police officials in Army Aviation School in July, 2021. Zohara, a BCS cadre of 36th batch, took training with 10 other officials of army and navy. The first woman police pilot sat in the pilot's seat in the cockpit of the aircraft after various tests of mental, physical fitness, skill, ability and activity and the final aptitude test. Even, Fatema Tuz Zohra secured the first position by securing the highest marks in theory among the 10 trainees of various forces in the aviation basic course.

 
Zohara, hailed from Pabna, passed SSC from Pangsha Girls High School and HSC from Pangsha College in Rajbari. Later she did her honours and masters’ degrees from Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Department of Dhaka University. During her student life, she thought that she would build her carrier in higher education and research. But, the scenario of her life has been changed before completion of her education.  

 
She had focused on building her career and sat for the BCS examination. With the inspiration of her teacher she put the police as her first choice.

 
Later, she joined the Bangladesh Police after successfully passing out the 36th BCS in 2018. She started her job at Cyber Police Unit of CID after completion of training. She worked in Victim Support Centre. She tried to stay beside the victims with utmost sincerity under the leadership of an additional police super.  

 
Zohara received a letter from Police Headquarters in 2021 which sought applications from those who are interested in becoming a pilot. At the beginning, she was surprised. She thought that she will avail the scope at any cost and submitted her application soon after receiving the application.

 
After primary selection she sat for various exams. At the end of the examinations including mental, physical fitness, skill, ability, activity, the final test was given in the Army Aviation Group Aptitude Test.

 
She got the primary scope of sitting in the cockpit on March 4 in 2021. She became excited. After the examination and selection process, the aviation basic training course started with four police officers at the Army Aviation School on July 2 in 2022. Army and Navy officials were also there with them. Their solo flight was completed in March in 2022. Zohara landed safely after solo flying on March 16 and her dream of flying became real.

 
Zohara said it is a big opportunity to become a part of the air wing of Bangladesh Police as it is completely a different world. A trainee is allowed to perform the solo when the instructor feels complete confidence.

 
“I was so excited when my instructor told me that you are clear for solo. It is a desired moment for both instructor and trainee when someone is sent on a solo. Everyone waits eagerly for the moment,” Zohara said.
