SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 4, 2024 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister M Tajul Islam today said Milk Vita will produce nearly 25,000 kilograms of powdered milk daily.
"Production of 25,000 kgs of powdered milk would be possible per day from nearly two lakh liters raw liquid milk", said the minister while responding to a star-marked question during the question-answer session brought by treasury bench lawmaker Chayan Islam of Sirajganj-6 at the Jatiya Sangsad here.
To this end, establishment of milk powder factory at Baghabarighat in Sirajganj project has already been completed with a cost of Taka 105 crore.
Bangladesh Milk Producers Co-operative Union Limited has implemented the project.
Bangladesh Milk Producers Co-operative Union Limited has formed a total of 45 primary cooperatives at Shahjadpur for increasing milk production and development of dairy farmers.
Milk Vita was established as a cooperative that would collect milk from farmers in rural areas and sell them in urban areas of Bangladesh.
Products manufactured by the company include liquid milk, yogurt, cream, powdered milk, butter and ghee.
The company was founded in 1974. In 2016, a government report found 12 private milk producers in Bangladesh were imitating the packaging of Milk Vita.
