13 foreign military officers pay homage to war heroes

SAVAR, Feb 4, 2024 (BSS) - Thirteen military officers from 11 countries led by director general (DG) of Directorate-General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Major General Hamidul Haque today paid tributes to the Bangladesh Liberation War's martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.

The foreign military officers attached to different embassies in Dhaka paid floral wreaths to the war heroes and stood in solemn silence for some time, said a release this afternoon.

The foreign military officers are: Lieutenant Colonel John Dempsey of Australia, Senior Colonel Du Jingsen of China, Brigadier Manmeet Singh Sabharwal of India, Col Azwan Abdi of Indonesia, Brigadier So Nuyet of Myanmar, Brigadier Roshan Shamser Rana of Nepal, Colonel Mahmoud Saraonah of Palestine, Colonel Sergey Viktorovich Naydenov and Lt Col Alexey Yuryevich Terekov of Russia, Col Erdal Shahin of Turkey, Lieutenant Colonel John Crawford McClellan Scott of UK, and Lt Col Michael Eric Dimeshei and Major Ian Leonard of the United States.

Later, the foreign military officials signed the visitors' book kept at the National Martyrs' Memorial.
