Inter-ministerial meeting on 100-day programme held

DHAKA, Feb 27, 2024 (BSS) - An inter-ministerial meeting was held today at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to formulate a strategy for the implementation of the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan (MCPP) as part of the 100-day work plan of the ministry.

The meeting was held at the conference room of the ministry with Environment Secretary Dr Farhana Ahmed in the chair, a ministry press release said.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr Farhana Ahmed said coordinated efforts of the relevant ministries and agencies of the government are essential for the implementation of the MCPP.

She said, "We want to formulate the strategy within a set time frame taking everyone's opinion."

The secretary said the strategy will play an effective role in climate adaptation and mitigation measures, increased use of renewable energy, afforestation and sustainable management of forest resources.

At the meeting, representatives of various ministries and agencies gave their opinions on the steps to be taken to formulate the MCPP strategy. All the participants assured of their full cooperation in the speedy and effective implementation of the MCPP.

Additional Secretary (Administration) of the ministry Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Chief Conservator of Forests Md Amir Hosain Chowdhury and senior government officials were present.

Deputy Secretary Dharitri Kumar Sarkar gave a powerpoint presentation on the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan.
