DHAKA, March 7, 2024 (BSS)-State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today said the historic March 7 speech by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is very important for the freedom loving people of the earth.

“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman actually announced the independence through the speech of March 7,” he told a round table discussion marking March 7 as chief guest. Sampriti Bangladesh, a secular platform of the pro-liberation forces, organized the discussion in city’s CIRDAP auditorium here.

Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said all the people of the country were waiting to hear the speech of March 7 by Bangabandhu. The entire nation fought following the directions of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman against the Pakistani occupation forces in 1971.

After the Liberation War, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had been able to make a self confident nation within only three and a half years that is why the anti-liberation forces killed Bangabandhu and most of his family members, he said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for realizing the dream of Bangabandhu and she wants to make the country developed and prosperous, he said.

The country is moving forward under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina but the anti-liberation forces has been hatching conspiracies against the present government, he added.

He also urged all to eliminate the communal and evil forces from the country.

Convener of the Sampriti Bangladesh Pijush Bandyopadhyay presided over the discussion and Prof Dr. Mamun Al Mahtab (Shwapnil) conducted it.

The newly appointed Pro-vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Sitesh Chandra Bachar,  Prof. Biswajit Ghosh, senior journalist Shafiqul Karim, Major (Retd) Hafiz, Prof Md. Rofiqul Islam and Prof Dr Uttam Kumar Barua, among others, spoke on the occasion.
