BFUJ demands release of journalist Shafiuzzaman

 DHAKA, March 9, 2024 (BSS) - BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists today demanded release of Journalist Shafiuzzaman Rana as a mobile court sent him to jail for six months in Sherpur's Nakla on Tuesday.
 
In a statement, BFUJ President Omar Faruque and its acting Secretary General Sheikh Mamunur Rashid protested and condemned the incident expressing concern over the sentencing jail of journalist Shafiuzzaman.
 
 A mobile court sentenced six months jails for allegedly misbehaving with a government official and an office staffer while trying to collect information from the UNO office in Sherpur's Nakla.
 
Journalist Shafiuzzaman Rana, 45, is the Nakla correspondent for Bangla daily Desh Rupantor.
