KATHMANDU, March 25,2024 (BSS/XINHUA) -- A tractor veered off a highway in Nepal's Achham district on Monday morning, leaving five people dead and three others injured.

"Five people including the driver died on the spot," Arjun Saud, spokesperson of the district police, told Xinhua. He said that all the victims are from the same village and one of the injured was in serious condition.

In the absence of reliable public transportation, people often travel on tractors in rural Nepal.

Hundreds of people lose their lives in traffic accidents in the Himalayan country annually.
