BGB gives guard of honour to Bhutanese King in Kurigram

DHAKA, March 28, 2024 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today gave a state guard of honour to Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at Sonahat land port in Kurigram.

As part of the King state visit to Bangladesh, Wangchuck visited the Special Economic Zone of Kurigram District and Sonahat Land Port, a press release said.

On his arrival at Sonahat land port, Brigadier General Khondkar Shafiquzzaman, Rangpur Region Commander of BGB, gave floral greetings and warm welcome to Bhutanese King.
 
During his visit, a smartly turned-out Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) contingent gave a state guard of honour to the King. 

Later, the King signed the VVIP visit card of BGB and distributed sweets among BGB members.

After completion of the immigration process, the King was again given a state guard of honour by the BGB during his departure to India and the Rangpur Region Commander of the BGB saw off the King of Bhutan apart from providing strict security up to the zero lines of the border.
