Rasheda Sultana for holding free, fair upazila elections

GAIBANDHA, April 28, 2024(BSS) - Election Commissioner (EC) Rasheda Sultana today underscored the need for holding the sixth upazila parishad election across the country in a free, fair and credible manner.
 
"As the 12th Parliamentary election was held on January 7 successfully at the initiative of Bangladesh Election Commission, in continuation the commission wants to hold the upazila election free fair and acceptable.
 Accordingly, the upazila election would be held in festive mode through active participation of the voters and the concerned", she said.

Rasheda Sultana made the comments while exchanging views with journalists at a press briefing held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here this afternoon as the chief guest.

Necessary measures have been ensured by the commission along with local administrations for the voters so that they could go to the polling centers cast their votes without any fear.
 
She also sought whole hearted cooperation of the journalists and publishe objective news regarding election in their respective media to make the election fruitful.
 
The EC, later, participated in the meeting of the officials concerned who are involved in conducting upazila election in Rangpur and Gaibandha districts as the chief guest.
 
Rangpur divisional commissioner Md Zakir Hossain presided over the meeting.

Earlier, she also participated in the view exchange meeting with the candidates who are in the race of election as the chief guest and urged them to conduct election campaign following electoral code of conduct.
 
DCs of Gaibandha and Rangpur, Superintendents of police of Rangpur and Gaibandha attended the meeting.
