Life of Raisa turns flamboyant with colorful soaps

Dhaka, June 08, 2024 (BSS) -Raisa Rafiq, whose nick name is Sulagna, was very much

attracted towards color since her childhood. During her childhood, when she got time, she
used to remain busy in  painting different items such as her dresses and household items.

Whoknew then that this color will change her life one day.

Entrepreneur Raisa studied at the Graphic Design Department of Dhaka University. Products
such as soap and  dress, made by her, have already gained ground across the country.

While talking to BSS, Raisa said, “Then, I just got enrolment at Dhaka University.

I was yetto get a seat (accommodation) at DU’s dormitory. I used to live at Nebedita Hostel located in  the city’s Farmgate.

Then, two senior sisters requested me to paint their sarees. They liked  my designed sarees very much…..Consequently I got 10 orders as many people liked my designed sarees.”

“Hearing from them, many people started placing orders for painting sarees…Then, I also
designed earthen covers that people liked very much,” Raisa recalled her early days of
entrepreneurship.

“Seeing their tremendous response, I decided to start my own venture,” Raisa added.

In the meantime, Raisa got married to one Riyajuddin. Later, the couple was blessed with two  babies.

As she got busy with her family and child, she did not have time to design dresses and   potteries.

In 2021, her husband had a heart attack, putting her family in a financial crunch. Finding no  way, she then decided to start a business with her painting merit.

In the initial days, she had to struggle a lot with her children and running a business.

She recalled, “I used to paint sarees and clay covers throughout the entire night as I did not  get time during day time.”

“Then, my husband encouraged me a lot …he told me that I must initiate a startup,” she
further added.

“Being inspired by him, I got courage to start my own venture,” she added.

“To produce coloured soaps, I took help from one of my uncles, who is a biochemist,” she
said, adding that she then opened a facebook page Dazzle Days Mart’ to sell products, which  got a huge response from customers.

Raisa said, “I have loved color since my childhood. So, I love to be engaged with color
everyday…. Eye shooting colorfull soap is very popular among customers.”

“Its (soap) color, flavor and design will attract customers…Many entrepreneurs make hand-
made soaps…but I first brought colorfull soaps to market.”

“Hand-made soap is very useful for skin…coconut oil is used in the soap which helps to
remove spots, dark circles and wrinkles from skin,” she added.

“I also use castor oil and olive oil, which is also good for the skin,” she further added.

Apart from deep cleaning the skin, it also removes dryness of the skin…these colored soaps
are made by cent percent natural ingredients.

Many people are becoming dependent on fairness cream, which is harmful for skin. People
are using fairness cream instead of taking proper care of skin.

In this way, skin loses its  natural texture.

“People have the wrong concept over taking care of skin,” she said, adding that the first step  of taking care of skin is cleaning it properly.

“To make people aware of making skin clear, I started making soaps,” she said.

People usually use soap whether they use other skincare products or not, she said, adding she
ensures the quality of her products with strict quality control.

“I do not want to provide substandard products to customers….I do not want to compromise
with the quality of my products as it is my dream venture,” she mentioned.

Soaps of Dazzle Days Mart are produced under the supervision of experienced biochemist
Monirul Islam.

“The biochemist is my uncle…so the entire process has become easy for me…. He completed
all the procedures at his factory.” said Raisa.

Dazzle Days Mart was registered under Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries
Corporation on January 25, 2022.

Raisa’s mother Ms Rafiq also extends support to the Dazzle Days Mart platform as she is
selling various types of pickles through the page.

Raisa said, “Recently, I took training from BSCIC which made me more confident.”

About her future plan, she said many women in society are repressed, so she wants to stand
by the acid victims.
