Bangladesh Scouts to be lighthouse to build smart Bangladesh: Wadud

RAJSHAHI, July 13, 2024 (BSS) - State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Abdul Wadud has said the Bangladesh Scouts will be the lighthouse for building Smart Bangladesh envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Scouting has been playing a vital role towards generating skilled human resources side by side with teaching the students about leading their lives in a disciplined manner.

The state minister came up with the observation while addressing the distribution ceremony-2024 of drum set among Cub Scouts received from Bangladesh Scout at Puthiya Upazila Parishad premises in the district today as chief guest.

State Minister Abdul Wadud said there is no alternative to scouting for proper physical and mental development of the students. As a whole, Bangladesh Scout has become unique in terms of the flourishing latent talents of both the boys and girls.

He added that the present government under the prudent and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted various time-fitting steps for infusing dynamism into the activities of Bangladesh Scout.

He said scouting could make a positive contribution to keeping children and adolescents and youth safe and away from the poison of drugs and terrorism.

State Minister Wadud has also called for elevating socio-economic conditions of rural livelihoods by boosting farm and non-farm productions.
 
He said utmost importance should be given to uplifting human resources after organizing the rural communities along with imparting training to them.

With Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Nur Hossain Nirjhar in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Upazila Chairman Abdus Samad and Upazila Awami League President Nazrul Islam.
