DHAKA, July 16, 2024 (BSS) - Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan warned that stern action will be taken if anyone engages in destructive activities under the guise of anti-quota protests.

"We have no issue with them who are protesting against quota. But, if they engage in destructive activities being influenced with vested quarters, we will not spare them," he told journalists at his secretariat office today.

If there is destruction and public sufferings, the law enforcement agencies will act in the national interest, he added.

"Law enforcers have been instructed to handle such situations. Wherever there is vandalism, law enforcement will do their duties," he said.

Kamal said the protesters should have waited for the final decision on the quota issue. Blocking roads affects everyone and disrupts many activities, he added.

He instructed the law enforcers to avoid intervening in student protests unless absolutely necessary.
