DHAKA, Aug 12, 2024 (BSS) - Islami Andolan Nayebe Ameer and Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim today urged all to maintain communal harmony across the country.

"The patriotic people must stop the attempts of destroying communal harmony at any cost. All should play an active role in maintaining peace and order in the country from their respective positions," he said.

The Islami Andolan senior leader was talking to the people from different classes and professions at the party's central office in the city's Purana Paltan area this afternoon, said a press release.

Karim called for installing CCTV cameras to ensure security of all places of worships, households and properties of the minority communities.

Pointing that defeated forces are plotting to push the country towards instability again by using the minorities as shields, he said this time students of Islamic organizations and Qaumi Madrasah along with other students have set an example in the world in maintaining peace, order and saving lives and properties of minority groups.

Following the topple of the Awami League (AL) government, the country's law and order system collapsed, Karim said, adding, in this situation, the leaders and activists of the Islami Andolan and its associated organizations -- the Islami Jubo Andolan, the Chhatra Andolan and Sramik Andolan -- guarded police stations, upazilas and places of worships and households of minorities across the country to maintain law and order.

Secretary General Principal Hafez Mawlana Younus Ahmad, Organizing Secretary KM Atiqur Rahman, Publicity and Dawah Affairs Secretary Mawlana Ahmad Abdul Qaiyum and Women and Family Welfare Affairs Secretary Mawlana Mohammad Nesar Uddin were present on the occasion, among others.
