CAAB Chairman visits Osmani, Cox’s Bazar int’l airports

DHAKA, Sept 1, 2024 (BSS) – Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan visited Osmani and Cox’s Bazar International Airports to witness the development works.


During the visit at Osmani International Airport on Saturday, the CAAB Chairman laid emphasis on the improved passenger services and overall security services, said a press release today. 


He also inspected the ongoing development works such as airport expansion phase-I, peripheral security boundary wall, PALS road areas and others. 


Later, he exchanged views with the airport officials and asked them to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity.


Besides, on Friday, Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan went to the Cox’s Bazar International Airport as its expansion work is on, to upgrade it to a world class airport.


After visiting the works such as terminal building, runway extension reclaiming land on sea-bed, expanded aircrafts parking and other infrastructures, he said that 93 percent works of the terminal building has been done while the remaining works would be completed soon.


Mentioning that 83 percent works of the runway has been done, the CAAB Chairman said that 9,000 feet runway is ready alongside another 1,700 feet runway, which is being constructed.


Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan expected that the existing complexities would be overcome soon to declare it as an international facility.
