AB Party hands over 13-point recommendations on healthcare to health adviser

DHAKA, Oct 20, 2024 (BSS) – The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) leaders today paid a courtesy call on Health Adviser Jahanara Begum and presented its 13-point recommendations to ensure proper healthcare facilities for all.

A party delegation led by its Convener Professor Dr Major (Retd) Abdul Wahab Minar paid the call on the adviser at his office at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare this afternoon, said a press release.

During the meeting, they specially called for formulation of a healthcare and health protection act, the release added.

The AB Party’s Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju, Joint Convener Lt. Col. (Retd.) Helal Uddin, Joint Member Secretary Barrister Jobair Ahmad Bhuiyan and its Health Care Policy Formulation Committee Member Dr Sonia Jemin Preeti were present on the occasion.

Health adviser received the recommendations and sought their opinions on various reforms in the health sector.
The leaders requested him to make the media and public relations department of the Ministry of Health more active to highlight the progress of work and various steps of the ministry concerned.

The recommendations include expediting the National Health Service Commission's activities and taking feedback from stakeholders, giving utmost importance to public health and primary healthcare, increasing standard allowance of private post graduate student-doctors and interns, shutting down substandard government private medical colleges, creating separate salary structure in private medical colleges, reducing the price of medicines and strict adherence to the National Drug Policy and ensuring appointments of all finally-selected applicants including the 42nd BCS.
