Health, Information Advisers exchange views with mass uprising injured

DHAKA, Oct 20, 2024 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam today exchanged views with those who received injuries in the anti-discrimination movement.

The view-exchange meeting was held in the Health Ministry conference room at the secretariat here.

Nurjahan Begum said the government is providing treatment to injured people with utmost importance.
 
Initiatives have also been taken by bringing specialist doctors from abroad to ensure proper treatment, she said.

The health adviser said measures have been taken to eliminate bureaucratic complications in order to provide quick treatment to the injured.
 
Stern actions will be taken against those concerned if any negligence is found in providing treatment to injured people, she added.

Warning against corruption in the health sector, she said any type of corruption will not be tolerated in the health sector. Immediate action will be taken against those who will be found involved with corruption, the health adviser said.

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam said only assurance of providing treatment won't be enough rather effective measures should be taken to ensure proper treatment.

Referring to the directives of the chief adviser, he said that the government will bear the expenses required for the treatment of the injured as it has that capacity.

Nahid Islam said concerted efforts should be taken to ensure proper treatment of wounded people so that they do not have to come to the government for a second time.
 
Noting that many of those injured have been traumatized, the information adviser stressed on providing psychological counseling to those traumatized patients.

He urged all those involved in providing treatment to the injured to work with utmost sincerity.

Nahid said providing treatment to injured people cannot be considered only as routine work.

During the view-exchange meeting, the injured people drew the government's attention for advanced treatment and employment.

Health Services Division Senior Secretary MA Akmall Hossain Azad and July Martyrs' Memorial Foundation General Secretary Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho, among others, spoke on the occasion.
 
A total of 60 people from different classes and professions who were injured in the anti-discrimination movement were present at the meeting.
