KHULNA, Oct 21, 2024 (BSS) - Rakib Bhuiyan, a ninth-grader, made a robot that creates huge curiosity among people here as it can serve food, answer questions, shake hands, salute etc.

The robot can also be controlled through a mobile phone, said Rakib who made the robot based on his YouTube experience.

Rakib Bhuiyan, 14, son of Quamrul Bhuiyan, hails from Damodor Boronpara village under Fultala upazila in the district.

A student of class-IX of Muktomoyee Secondary School under Fultala Upazila, rakib had a dream to make a robot when he was studying in class-VI.

Talking to BSS, Rakib said he faced obstacles to make his dream success as his poor van-puller father runs the four-member family along with his mother and a sister with very hardship.

Despite the hardship, the indomitable schoolboy continued his efforts and tried to collect money by plying his father’s rickshaw van.

“I drive my father’s van for some hours a day. With that money, I bought chicken and reared it at our residence. I sold it in the kitchen market and earned Tk 35,000. I bought different equipment for making the robot,” Rakib said.

He said his robot can open the house’s water pipeline in case of fire. It can call emergency services 999, the neighbouring fire brigade office and Rakib’s mobile phone. It operates through Google Maps.

The body of the robot is made of plastic PVC board. Multiple sensors and cameras were installed.
