Govt suggests holding rallies at Suhrawardy Udyan instead of Shahbagh

DHAKA, Oct 22, 2024, (BSS) - The government has taken a decision that those who are staging demonstrations on street with different demands should hold their programmes at Suhrawardy Udyan instead of Shahbagh to avert public sufferings.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Council Committee held at Home Ministry's Conference Room at Secretariat here with Home Adviser Lt Gen Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd) in the chair.

Issues including overall security, law and order situation, security for Biswa Ijtema, combating militancy and terrorism, drives to recover illegal arms were also discussed, said a press release.

Some decisions were taken in the meeting which included law enforcement agencies should work with more sincerity to improve the law and order, intensifying efforts to arrest criminals and offenders, exposing political identity of criminals and those who incite demonstrations.

Those who are staging demonstration on streets with different demands have been asked to place their demands to the government's committees or commissions concerned instead of holding rallies on street.

Heads of different law enforcement agencies have been requested to inform the people about their key works through holding press briefing.

If any top terrorist who was released on bail is found involved in terrorist activities, should be arrested.
