HABIGANJ, Nov 24, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Local Government Affairs Assistant Secretary Shammi Akhter today demanded withdrawal of all false cases against the party's acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

“The countrymen want withdrawal of all false cases against Tarique Rahman,” she told a rally followed by a protest procession in Chunarughat upazila in the district.

BNP’s Chunarughat Upazila Unit organized the programme with its former convener Abu Saleh Shafiqur Rahman in the chair.

Habiganj District BNP Joint Convener Ahmadur Rahman Abdal, Chunarughat Municipality’s former Mayor Nazim Uddin Shamsu, District Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Aminul Islam Babul, District Mahila Dal President Fatima Yasmin and Upazila Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Maruf Ahmed, among others, spoke at the procession.
Shammi Akhter said the people of the country are eagerly waiting to exercise their franchise in fair and neutral polls.

She said the fascist Awami League government was ousted through anti-discrimination student movement but their cohorts are still hatching conspiracy against the present government.

The BNP leader also urged the interim government to hold a free, fair and neutral election.
