Two addl. SPs suspended

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) – The government suspended two Additional Superintendents of Police (Addl. SPs) Shahidul Islam and Sadek Kawsar Dastgir from the service under the section 57 of the Public Service Act, 2018. 

The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued two separate notifications on January 19 in this regard, signed by Secretary Nasimul Gani.

The suspended Addl. SPs were Shahidul Islam, Addl. SP, 16 Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Sadek Kawsar Dastgir, Addl. SP, In Service Training Centre, Sherpur. 

According to a notification, Shahidul Islam was suspended from the service in the public interest as per the provisions of 39 (2) clause of the section 57 of the Public Service Act, 2018 from October 30, 2024, while Sadek Kawsar Dastgir was suspended under the provisions of 39 (2) clause of the section 57 of the Public Service Act, 2018 from December 12, 2024.

“During their suspension, Shahidul Islam and Sadek Kawsar Dastgir will be attached to the range DIG office, Sylhet and range DIG office, Khulna respectively and will receive subsistence allowance as per rules,” notifications said.

Earlier, on October 30, 2024 Investigative Officer Inspector, Detective Branch (DB) of Cox’s Bazar Pratul Kumar Shil along with police force arrested Addl. SP Shahidul Islam from 16 APBn, Cox’s Bazar in connection with a case no ICT-BD Misc, no-04/2024.

Apart from this, on December 18, 2024 Investigative Officer Inspector, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) of Sylhet Md Mursalin along with police force arrested Addl. SP Sadek Kawsar Dastgir from In Service Traning Centre, Sherpur in connection with a case filed no-14, on August 20, 2024 with Kotwali Model Police Station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP).
