JHENIDAH, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS) - A sharing and orientation workshop on 'formation of national referral system for the protection and assistance to the human trafficking victims' was held today at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) here.

Chaired by DC Md Abdul Awal, Joint Secretary of the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry Md Jasim Uddin Khan virtually attended the workshop as chief guest.

The workshop was addressed, among others, by Deputy Director of the Local Government Division Rathindra Nath Ray, Additional District Magistrate Khalid Hassan Siddique, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Saifur Rahman, police officer Jahirul Islam, NGO representatives - KM Masud Ali, Mrinmoy Mahajon, Adv Md Rafiqul Alam and Sharifa Khatun, president of Jhenidah Press Club Asif Kajol, president of district press club Mizanur Rahman Babul and human rights activist Abdur Rahman. 

A good number of local government officials, non-government organizations activists, journalists, human rights activists, Imams, teachers and the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement representatives joined the workshop.

Organized by Jhenidah district administration, the workshop was facilitated by 'Asshas' a project of the Dhaka Ahsania Mission.
 
The speakers called for proper use of the laws relating to human trafficking. They also emphasized on formation of a national referral system with the data of the service providing organizations and the detailed information of the trafficked victims.
