National Consensus Commission's Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz and its members Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, Dr Badiul Alam Majumder and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider, among others, were present at the meeting.
Besides, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Senior Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Yusuf Ashraf, secretary general Jalal Ahmed and joint secretary general Tofazzal Hossain Miazi, among others, were present.
Professor Ali Riaz, in his speech, said the main objective of forming the reform commissions is to establish democratic practices in the country and ensure the rights of the people.
He said that no one should be subjected to disappearances or extrajudicial killings and face any obstacles in any field.
The National Consensus Commission, headed by interim government Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was formed with the goal of forging national consensus on reforms. The commission officially began its activities on February 15.
The commission identified the crucial recommendations made in the reports of five reform commissions - the constitution reform commission, the public administration reform commission, the electoral system reform commission, the judiciary reform commission and the ACC reform commission - to seek opinions from the political parties.
Later, the commission sent a set of recommendations in a spreadsheet format to 38 political parties, asking them to send their specific opinions on the significant reform recommendations by March 13.
The National Consensus Commission began formal dialogue on March 20 to finalise the recommendations made by the reform commissions.
