BRAHMANBARIA, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) – Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said that no new gas connections will be provided to residential areas through pipelines.

“There will be no more pipeline gas connections to residential areas. People must accustom to use gas cylinders,” the adviser told reporters after inspecting a portion of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at the Sarail-Bishwa Road intersection in the district.

He said, “Our own gas production has significantly declined. We are currently importing gas at a cost of TK 60-65 (per litre). Under such circumstances it is no longer possible  to supply gas to homes through pipelines.”

The adviser emphatically said that pipeline gas connections will only be provided for industrial consumption.

Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Didarul Alam, Superintendent of Police Ehteshamul Haque and other senior officials accompanied the adviser.
