RAJSHAHI, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 5,64,123 children aged between nine months and under 16 years are set to receive typhoid vaccines under the upcoming Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025 in all nine upazilas of Rajshahi district.

The campaign will be conducted over 18 working days in two phases. In the first phase, 3,83,297 children will be vaccinated at 2,609 schools from October 12 to 30. The second phase will cover 1,80,826 children at 1,776 outreach sites from November 1 to 13.

Civil Surgeon Dr SIM Raziul Karim disclosed the information while addressing a press conference on the campaign at the Civil Surgeon Office conference hall here today.

He said children within the specified age group are more susceptible to typhoid infection and called upon the media to help raise awareness and ensure the success of the campaign.

"We are working relentlessly to bring all targeted children under online registration so they can be vaccinated properly," he added.

Parents can register their children online using the 17-digit birth registration number to obtain a vaccine card. In the absence of a birth certificate, registration can be completed using a parent's mobile number, and written proof of vaccination will be provided.

The campaign will use the single-dose injectable typhoid conjugate vaccine, supplied by Gavi, which offers protection for three to seven years and has been proven safe with no major side effects.

Dr Karim urged parents to avail themselves of this free government initiative to safeguard their children from typhoid, a disease associated with poor sanitation and unsafe drinking water.

"We must remain vigilant so that no one spreads misinformation or creates confusion about the vaccine," he said.

Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Mahbuba Khatun, District EPI Superintendent Kastory Begum, and World Health Organization Coordinator Dr Abdul Matin also addressed the press conference.

They emphasized that mass awareness is essential for the success of the campaign and noted that the role of mass media is vital in this regard.
