
DHAKA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi celebrated the 54th Armed Forces Day on November 24, highlighting the historic bonds of friendship, shared sacrifices and enduring defence ties between Bangladesh and India.
Lt. General Manish Luthra, Director General (Military Operations) of the Indian Army, attended the event as Chief Guest, said a press release received here today.
Describing Bangladesh-India relations as 'remarkable and exemplary,' he said the peoples of the two neighbouring nations have consistently stood by each other in times of need.
High Commissioner to India Md Riaz Hamidullah paid tribute to the heroes of the Liberation War and acknowledged the sacrifices made by many in India, noting their courage and support during Bangladesh's moments of greatest distress.
Underscoring the multi-layered friendship shaped by shared history, culture and geography, he said the relationship remains deeply rooted in mutual trust and respect.
Welcoming attendees, Defence Adviser Brigadier General Md Hafizur Rahman reflected on the wide-ranging roles of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in nation-building, as well as their contributions to global peace and security through UN peacekeeping missions.
The celebration was attended by 1971 War veterans, senior officials of the Government of India, high-ranking military officers, diplomats, civil society members and representatives of the media.
