Tk 2.5cr smuggled goods seized in Cumilla

CUMILLA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian smuggled goods worth Taka 2.5 crore in a series of operations conducted across several border points in Cumilla and Brahmanbaria district over the past week.

The Sultanpur Battalion (BGB-60) under the Cumilla sector carried out the drives between November 20 and November 27, Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Ziaur Rahman confirmed this on Thursday morning.

According to BGB, the special operations were conducted in the border areas of Adarsha Sadar, Brahmanpara and Burichang upazilas in Cumilla district, as well as the Akhaura and Kasba border regions in Brahmanbaria. 

Among the seized items were Indian sarees, female dresses, shawls and chadors worth around Taka 81.70 lakh. Additionally, food items valued at Taka 1.68 crore were confiscated. 

The BGB team also recovered various cosmetics, medicines, fireworks, cattle, covered vans and food products. Narcotics including liquor, marijuana and Phensedyl were also seized during the operations, Lt. Col. Rahman added.
