Two traders fined in Chuadanga for irregularities in selling seeds

CHUADANGA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - Two traders in Jibannagar upazila of the district have been fined for irregularities in selling agricultural seeds to the farmers.
 
The fines were imposed during a drive conducted by the National Consumer Rights Protection Department this afternoon.

According to a press release issued by the Chuadanga District Office of Consumer Rights Protection, a routine surveillance operation was carried out in the Utholi Bazar area from 12 pm to 2 pm. 

The inspection focused on baby food, seeds, fertilizers and essential commodities available at local shops.

During the operation, M/s Joardar Bij Bhandar, owned by Abbas Uddin, was fined Taka 10,000 under Section 45 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for irregularities in selling various types of seeds. 

Another business, M/s Mallick Traders owned by Khaled Masud, was also fined Taka 10,000 for similar violations.

Authorities instructed the traders to ensure the sale of quality seeds and maintain proper standards in the interest of farmers. 

The drive was led by Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Consumer Rights Protection District Office. 

Salma Jahan Nipa, Field Officer of the District Seed Certification Office, CAB representative Md. Rafiqul Islam and local police officials were also present during the operation.
