DHAKA, Feb 10, 2025 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni and her husband Taufiq Newaz on charge of corruption.

ACC Director General (prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain told journalists at a formal briefing at the ACC Headquarters in Segunbagicha this afternoon.

He said being a people’s representative Dr. Dipu Moni amassed over Taka 5.92 crore through abusing state-power in dishonest manner which is inconsistent with his known sources of income.

Besides, Dipu Moni had made suspicious transactions in 28 bank-accounts involving about Taka 59.93 crore, the ACC claimed.

Meanwhile, Tawfique Newaz, used his wife’s influences and became the owner of the movable and immovable assets worth about over Taka 1.96 crore, which is beyond his sources of income earlier submitted to the wealth statement.

A separate case has been lodged with the ACC in this connection, the DG added.
