ICT orders to produce Atiqul, 5 others on Feb 17

DHAKA, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) – The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today ordered authorities concerned to produce former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam and five others before it on February 17.
 
The two-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order, allowing a plea of the prosecution.
 
The other five accused are Awami League (AL) Uttara East unit education affairs secretary Md Shahinur Miah, its Uttara West unit president Monowarul Islam Chowdhury Robin, AL Gazipur city unit organizing secretary Abdullah Al Mamun, Uttara sector 6 AL president Md Bashir Uddin, and Jubo League leader Delwar Hossain Rubel.
 
Confirming the matter to BSS, prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud said he moved the plea before the court.
 
Meanwhile, the tribunal today also issued an arrest warrant against a police official. Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim took part in the hearing over the plea. The prosecutor, however, refrained from revealing the identity of the accused for the sake of security.
