DHAKA, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) – A court here has imposed a travel ban on former officer in-charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station Mazharul Islam and his wife Laila Khan over graft allegations

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on February 10, granting a plea by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Assistant Director Bishan Ghosh of the ACC filed the plea in the court.

The ACC in its plea stated that the agency is probing allegations of amassing illegal wealth against the couple. Mazharul has deposited a huge amount of ill-gotten money in the accounts of his wife and they were trying to flee the country, the plea added.

Mazharul Islam was arrested on September 17 from APBn & Specialized Training Center (ASTC), Khagrachari, and is now behind bars.
