ACC sues ex-state minister Kamal Ahmed, his son on graft charges

DHAKA, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder and his son Shaheed Ahmed Majumder for allegedly acquiring assets which are inconsistent with their known income sources.

Meanwhile, the ACC also decided to issue an order to submit a wealth statement in the name of his wife Shahida Kamal, ACC Director General (prevention) Md Akhter Hossain told journalists this afternoon.

He said Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, misusing the state-power, amassed assets worth over Tk 12.96 crore which is inconsistent with the shown sources of income.  

Besides, the ACC found him involved in making suspicious transactions in 10 bank accounts involving over Tk 296 crore.

Son Shaheed Ahmed Mojumder also acquired huge amount of assets worth about Taka 2 crore, 39 lakh, 73 thousand and 734, which is beyond his income sources, the DG said.  

The ACC official said there are no valid papers of income taxes of the taxes office and bank accounts’ statements of Shahida Kamal.
