DHAKA, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) will carry out special drives across the country in the month of Ramadan to prevent food adulteration.

Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan said this at a press briefing at the conference room of the Ministry of Industries here today.

BSTI has undertaken the special drive to prevent adulteration and quality control of daily necessities during the month of Ramadan, a press release said.

BSTI will check the quality of iftar items, baby food, fruits, and cosmetics products during the time, the release added.

As part of the drive, the BSTI will operate three mobile courts daily including holidays in the Dhaka city with the support of law enforcement agencies, the adviser said.

Ramadan is scheduled to begin on March 1 or 2 subject to sighting of moon on Friday next.

The mobile courts and surveillance activities will give utmost importance to product quality, check food adulteration and prevent weight-tampering and measurements of products, he said.

Similar mobile courts will be operated everyday by the divisional, district and regional offices of BSTI, Adilur said.
