RAJSHAHI, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) authority has cancelled life-time studentships of four leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

The authority also took disciplinary action against 48 other leaders and workers of BCL.

RUET sources said the decision was taken in the meeting of the academic disciplinary committee held with Vice-chancellor Prof SM Abdur Razzaque in the chair today.

The expelled students were BCL RUET unit president Fahmid Latif Lion, General Secretary Soumik Shaha, Shswata Shaha Sagar and Mrinmoy Kanti Biswash.

Sources said the RUET authority has expelled students as they were found guilty of attacking the anti-discrimination students' movement in July and August.

Earlier, the RUET authority formed a probe committee to inquiry into the allegation of attacking the student-demonstrators against the fascist regime.

Finally, the RUET administration took the expulsion decision as per the report of the probe committee, the sources added.
