DHAKA, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS) – The interim government has renamed Bangabandhu Bridge as ‘Jamuna Bridge’and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel as ‘Karnaphuli Tunnel’.

The Bridge Division of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges issued a notification in this regard today.

The Bangabandhu Bridge, opened on June 23, 1998, was constructed over the Jamuna River. Many people referred to it as Jamuna Bridge before it was changed to Bangabandhu Bridge.

On the other hand, the inauguration of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, located under the River Karnaphuli in Chattogram , took place on October 28, 2023.
